Hussein ShobokshiHussein Shobokshi CAT is an exceptional animal. It is proud of itself and has a very different style of expressing its feelings. I have a close friend who owns one of this distinctive species and he calls his pet “Pushco”, named after the famous Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. Whenever I visit my close friend and find his pet Pushco around, I observe its certain actions and reactions, but I fail to understand what it is trying to express. However, my friend knows Pushco’s character and personality very well and so he clarifies to me the meaning of its reactions. He tells me that the problem is not with Pushco but with me because I do not understand what message his pet is trying to convey. This reminds me about laws, regulations and announcements issued by governments and speeches of candidates during elections. They usually have nothing to do with reality but nevertheless the high level of humiliation and provocation of the mind is clear. Perhaps a stark example of such statements comes from the Republican candidate for the US presidential elections, businessman Donald Trump, when he speaks about the rights of minorities, the rights of Muslims and the rights of its neighbor Mexico. The recent speech at the Democratic Convention by Khizr Khan, parent of a soldier in the US infantry who lost his life at the age of twenty-seven to defend his colleagues against a suicide bomber who blew himself up in Iraq, was an eloquent response to Donald Trump for his remarks against Muslims in general and the US Muslim community in particular. Trump’s audacity and rudeness are recycled by his media team to convince the voters and the world that his statements are without any insult to the public and the problem is not with Trump but with the people who understand him wrongly. The increased and continued size of support for a candidate such as Donald Trump is still a matter of surprise and concern. This demonstrates that many political analysts who gambled and stressed that Donald Trump’s rise was a temporary phenomenon and it will quickly lose its luster, failed in their predictions as his popularity continued to expand and get consolidated. Trump is not alone in this hard-liner and distorted opinions. All extremists need distorted logic to support such ideas and convince the recipient that he himself is at fault, he did not understand the subject and the flaw is in himself, so he feels guilty, which generates a guilt complex in him. Observers and political pioneers are astonished and amazed at the comments and justifications from Donald Trump and other political and religious extremists and wonder how long can these wrong ideas and opinions will continue to flourish. The logic of Pushco is briefly to convince the recipient the contrary to the reality!
