THE Internet is considered one of the major technological achievements. It has become a global stage for people to interact with one another irrespective of their national, racial, religious and language differences. It offers wide opportunities for dialogue on political, religious and cultural issues. All types of people including terrorists, mutineers and atheists as well as those who want to increase their knowledge and financial resources can exploit the opportunities it provides.

Courtyards of the Internet have given birth to various terrorist and criminal groups and factions. Some of them are managed by international intelligence agencies while some others are run by militants who follow extremist religious ideologies. These groups surfaced mainly after the 9/11 events in the United States when rightist extremists spread their wings all over the world. Some people attribute the new racist political voices in Europe and US to those terrorist events.

We see an increase in the number of militants who believe in terrorism. Suicide bombings have increased shedding of blood of innocent people at mosques, churches, streets and buildings in the East and West as well as in the first world and third world. Mass killing of people continues without differentiating between religions and sects and those living nearby and far-off places. It seems that such terrorist operations have become uncontrollable as they are carried out by disgruntled and depressed individuals who are inspired by certain sick and evil thoughts and ideologies.

Security agencies have failed to stop suicide bombers who drive into crowds and buildings to explode themselves as nobody will be able to understand their motives. Security officers often fail to stop them or become victims of such attacks. There are militants who move in vehicles with their machine guns and spray bullets on all people surrounding them.

I believe that this situation would continue for some time. At the same time I am happy to say that things are under control thanks to the dedicated efforts of security and intelligence officers. Greater efforts must be exerted to improve the condition of refugees and displaced people to prevent them from joining terrorist groups, which try to entice and recruit them. We should also enact regulations to prevent individuals and organizations from raising racist voices.

Measures should be taken to contain endeavors to promote sectarian and racial bias through social media networks and stop such websites. We should control activities of suspicious groups who promote sectarianism through their Twitter accounts with fake addresses.

The Vilayat-e-Faqeeh or the rule of the spiritual leader and their supporters have been responsible for bloody events in our countries as they have played a big role in promoting sectarian strife in the region. We see its negative impact in the form of extremist and violent sectarian groups appearing in the region, which was unknown to us before the Iranian revolution.
