IN the current economic situation, the sudden drop in the price of oil in the Middle East has forced several organizations to downsize their activities or even to close down which has led to many employees reviewing their employment contacts or losing their jobs. In this situation the question which comes to the minds of employees is: Why is this bad thing happening to me? Their career path becomes a path of mystery with the ups and downs of the economy. However, perhaps their view of reality is unclear because they refuse to see the total picture and that is because of an inner mindset which functions as a guiding system that controls their perception. This inner mindset attracts employees to things that are pleasurable and considered to be “Good” and repels them from things that make them feel empty and are considered to be “Bad”. Employees look only for the good side of the picture (as they perceive it). Unfortunately, their perception of what is “Good” and “Bad” is totally faulty, since they have never looked at the whole picture, but only at a micro part as they are viewing reality from inside their box and that is the problem. Everything we feel comes as a result of contrast. For example, you will only realize the height of every situation if you see the opposite which is its depth, that is to say, if you do not feel the bottom of it you will never know the meaning of being at the top. Therefore, do not pay too much attention to what might happen, but rather focus on moving forward toward your goal. The comparison of what you think is “Good” and “Bad” in the workplace is totally subjective. However, if you think outside your box, you will understand that the present situation is just a chapter in your career history and that no one can stop you from reaching and fulfilling your dream.
