Nestle Milo bags WPCA Afternoon crown

By Dr. Sayed Ziauddin JEDDAH — Nestle Milo beat ALS Warriors by six wickets to claim the WPCA Summer Afternoon title here recently. It was a convincing victory as after bowling out ALS Warriors for 156, it went about the task of accumulating 159 in a clinical way. The credit goes to the Man-of-the-Match Imran Sarwar as his solid and aggressive approach ensured victory in a one-sided affair. ALS Warriors, opting to bat, had an unpleasant start as its top order crumbled with Emaduddin making 6, Mohammed Khan 11 and Talha 5. Mohammed Amjad scored 24 and along with Abdullah Essa (30) added 52 to cross the three-figure mark (100). Abdullah Essa lost his wicket trying to go for quick runs. Amjad Jutt (0) came in with high expectations but lasted only 2 balls. Imran Azam then hit 48 in 34 balls with 6 fours and a six. He added 42 with Shahzad (14) to get to 156. Bilal Malik was the most successful bowler with 4 for 27, Adalat claimed 2-15, Ijaz Butt 1-27, Ehsan Noni 1-33 and Abdullah Zahid 1-38. Nestle Milo reached 159 for 4 with 5 balls to spare. Imran Sarwar played a scintillating innings and bagged the Man-of-the-Match award. He hammered an unbeaten 76 in 50 balls studded with 2 sixes and 5 fours. He first added 55 in 45 balls with Bilal Malik (16) and then 60 in 46 balls with skipper Abdullah Zahid (23). Aijaz Butt earlier hit 11 and Azeem 13. A wicket each was picked up by Shahbaz (1-40), Haider Ali (1-26) and Safiudddin (1-37). The match was officiated by Zafar and Mian Zafar.
