Abdullah Al-Qahtani and Khalid Al-Muraih Okaz/Saudi Gazette ABHA — A public feud that broke out at a wedding in Khamis Mushayt has left one Saudi man dead and his son seriously injured, Asir Police spokesman Capt. Zaid Al-Qahtani said. “A group of young men began playing folklore music and performing a dance known as Al-Quzoui. One of the guests at the wedding got up and went to the group of young men and asked them to turn off the music as it was disturbing the wedding ceremony,” Al-Qahtani said. He said one young man in the group became angry at the intervention and pulled out a dagger from one of the guests and stabbed the man multiple times. The man's son who tried to protect his father from the attacker was also stabbed several times. “Police arrested the young man and the case was handed over to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution. The rest of the young men were detained for questioning,” Al-Qahtani said. One of the wedding guests, Ali Mubarak, said he witnessed the entire fight. “We were having dinner at the wedding when a group of young men began playing loud music nearby. The victim got up from the dinner table and went to them to ask them politely to turn it off,” Mubarak said. “One of the young men grabbed the dagger from another guest and began stabbing the man and his son who came to defend him. The man was taken to hospital immediately, but he died on the way. The son's injuries were also critical and he is still in intensive care,” Mubarak said.
