Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — An inordinate delay in the arrival of luggage of the passengers and their resultant ire at the inconvenience has made the management of King Khaled International Airport (KKIA) in Riyadh red-faced. The management has started a blame game and now holds the Saudi Company for Ground Services (SCGS) for its substandard performance last week. Informed sources told Makkah daily that the management has issued a strong warning to the company that it should either improve its services or it would be replaced by a Swiss company. The management told the company explicitly that it had embarrassed it by its substandard performance especially after the incident went viral on the social media. They said the director general of the airport, Abdulaziz Abu Harba wrote an official letter to the company's CEO warning him to improve the services at the newly-opened lounge otherwise the company would be replaced. "You have greatly embarrassed us. The lounge was recently opened and it should be a model in the good services," he told him. According to the director, the delay of the luggage continued for more than three hours in some cases. He said despite the signed agreements and the close coordination, the company's services were failing warning it that it would not only be replaced but asked to pay all the costs. "As a result of the work of your company, the reputation of the airport was negatively affected," the director said in his letter. Swissport, a company specializing in airport ground services has won the second license to provide its ground services in the Kingdom's airports which is now the sole prerogative of the SCGS.
