Saudi Gazette report JEDDAH — Development in Rehab district, located in central Jeddah, is growing at a quick pace with the exception of the electricity generators, according to a report in Okaz. The existing generators get tripped due to overload and residents suffer from the repeated rollbacks and disruption in service. Some houses now do not have any electricity following disconnection of the electrical circuit, exacerbating the suffering of residents, who have called the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) to act quickly and develop the service to increase the current effort. Hind Falatah said that she is seriously thinking of moving from her home in Rehab district because of electricity outage following the urban expansion in the neighborhood. "I have lived in this home for 17 years quietly without any disturbances, but the increasing establishment of residential buildings in the area is disrupting electricity services and the generator near my home is useless," she said. Falatah pointed out that the electricity company has failed to find a radical or long-term solution to the problem although huge amounts of money are paid to upgrade the power generation. Saeed Ahmed said it is important that the electricity company finds a viable solution quickly to the problem. "There are two workshops in the neighborhood that negatively impacts the performance of the generator," he said. Ahmed demanded that the electricity company put an end to the chaos in the streets suggesting that much of the population are regretting having built houses that cost hundreds of thousands of riyals in the area and only to suffer from poor electricity services. Khalid Abdullah said the company is ignoring the issue and hinted that the residents are now considering to collectively sue the company for failing to find solutions to the issue of power outages.
