ResizeJAZAN — The people of Al-Shitaifiyah Village renovated a road in the village by their own initiative, Al-Watan reported.
Nasser Kariri said Al-Shitaifiyah Village is located east of Uhud Masarifah Governorate in Jazan.
“We have complained to the municipality about the road between Al-Shitaifiyah Village and Juha Village. The road is 3-km long and is full of potholes. We asked the municipality several times to renovate the road. We proposed for the road to be renovated by ourselves several times during the municipal council meetings,” said Kariri.
He added the municipality would only reply with promising to renovate but no action was actually taken.
“We took matters into our hands and paid to renovate the road ourselves. The potholes were very damaging to the vehicles. We still need the municipality to complete the job. The municipality is responsible for providing the people with safe and secure services,” said Kariri.
Ahad Al-Masarihah Municipality head Yahya Faqihi said the municipality is aware of the condition of the road.
“The municipality does plan to renovate the road. The municipality gives priority to connecting roads, therefore the road in question is one of the municipality’s priorities,” said Faqihi.
