CAIRO— In a shocking crime a 41-year-old woman stole from a 74-year-old man before killing him in his house in Alexandria city when she discovered that he had reported the theft to the police.
Days later, the police arrested the woman as the key suspect in the shocking crime.
Investigators said that the man lived alone as his two sons work overseas.
The woman suspected of killing the man already has a criminal record.
According to the woman’s testimony, she met the man in one of Alexandria’s many cafes.
She said the man told her he needed help cleaning his home, and that she agreed to the task because he was old, adding that she was shocked the first time she visited his home because it was so dirty and she spent the whole day cleaning.
The woman said the man paid her little, but that when she found an envelope containing EGP47,000, she stole it immediately.
After she believed the man had not noticed the theft, the woman said she began spending the money.
After she was absent for a month, the man reported the situation to the police.
The woman said she decided to kill the man as a form of revenge for telling the police.
In more shocking confession, she said that he asked her to marry him but she refused because she is a Muslim and he a Christian.
After she was unable to convince the man to cancel his police report, she broke into his house and killed him.
She said the man begged her for his life, but she felt little empathy for him because he had been aggressive with her.
