MADINAH — The body of an Ethiopian woman mysteriously disappeared from a hospital morgue in Yanbu, press reports said on Wednesday. A source said the body was kept at Yanbu General Hospital but it was then transferred to Yanbu Al-Nakhl Hospital. “A pregnant Ethiopian woman walked into Yanbu General Hospital with another woman at 1:00 a.m. one night last July. The Ethiopian woman was admitted to the emergency ward. Before the hospital could transfer her to a room, she died of heart problems,” said the source. “The medical report stated the name of the patient, her gender age and date and the place of death. The medical report also states that the patient’s heart stopped beating and she stopped breathing due to arterial pressure caused by the pregnancy,” said the source. The source also said the corpse was stored in the hospital morgue. “Two days after the patient’s death, the hospital morgue had a malfunction in the cooling system. The hospital had to transfer five corpses, including the corpse of the Ethiopian woman, to the morque Yanbu Al-Nakhl Hospital,” said the source. He said Yanbu General Hospital Director Ahmad Sulaiman had issued an order to transfer the corpses until the morgue at the hospital is repaired as the corpses must be retrieved to be released to relatives for burial. “The corpses were brought back from Yanbu Al-Nakhl Hospital to Yanbu General Hospital after the cooling system was repaired. The Ethiopian woman’s corpse went missing in mysterious circumstances,” said the source. When asked for his comments on the incident, Madinah Health Affairs spokesman Fuad Al-Dugl said the Health Affairs did not receive any information about such an incident in Yanbu.
