I hope that the issuance of licenses for the operation of gyms for women this December will meet the expectations of women and make their dreams come true. Opening such gyms will improve the physical and psychological health of women. However, there are numerous conditions that need to be met to secure such licenses, including the area in which the gym will be located. For example, the gym should be a minimum of 450 square meters and should be located away from schools and hospitals.
These two conditions will regulate women’s gyms and encourage businesswomen to open such facilities. Sports centers for women should offer various sporting activities, such as swimming pools, swimming lessons and other water sports activities.
Horse riding is an important sport and such centers should have equestrian facilities where women can learn how to ride horses. Walking is just as important and there should be an indoor walking track. Qualified trainers should be hired to help members start off on the right foot and get the best out of their time at the gym.
We want women’s sports centers to be safe and affordable for all Saudi women without exception. We want them to play an important role in promoting healthy lifestyles and helping obese women lose weight and be fit and slim. It should be noted that many potential female gym members are mothers who have children and would expect a crèche. Most children love to play soccer, table tennis, basketball, billiards and water games. Our children have become addicted to electronic games and need some time off to relax and engage in physical activities.
