QATIF — The Qatif Central Hospital mistakenly registered a young girl as dead when she is still alive, Al-Sharq newspaper reported. A source said 10-year-old Fatima Al-Alawiyat was admitted to the hospital due to a disability. “The patient came for her regular treatment with her father but they were surprised to learn that the patient’s file was closed. When the father asked why it was closed, the hospital replied to him that the patient›s death was registered 10 days ago,” said the source. The source also said the father was surprised as his daughter was alive and kicking right beside him. “The family of the patient reported the incident to the Eastern Province Health Affairs Directorate and complained to the administration of the hospital. The father demanded action against the person who caused the clerical blunder,” said the source. The source also said the hospital reported that it has received the complaint and will look into it. «The same hospital had made a mistake previously by calling a patient to confirm an appointment for her. The patient the hospital was trying to reach has been dead for 11 years,” said the source.
