HANI Khoja is a calm and pleasant man. That was the first impression I got when I met him many years ago. Since then I was very happy and most impressed with his successful professional journey and human growth. I recently learned that he wrote a book; that in itself is big news. Not many Saudis write non-fiction books, let alone an autobiographical one. The book is title “A Global Nomad in Search of True Happiness.” I found the title very intriguing and definitely not a very typical one. The book notes stories that the author went through in his personal and professional life and the “lessons” he has learned from them. This book offers a great perspective of somebody who grew up in both the United States of America and Saudi Arabia. The stories and great anecdotes he comes up with offer a fresh look on the differences between both countries but more significantly he highlights the commonalities between the people of both countries. That in itself is a great fresh point in the age of the clash of civilizations. There is a very light and extremely positive message throughout in the book. While Hani Khoja does not claim to be a preacher, he definitely succeeds in coming across as a “positive thinker,” highlighting how to succeed and to do good in simplistic and logical terms. The book is easy, entertaining and full of substance in a very special way that is actually a typical reflection of the author himself. Hani Khoja is a successful marketer and consultant. He proved his mantle locally, regionally and globally. The book is inspiring and highly needed to the youth of Saudi Arabia who are all in a great and desperate need to have hope and feel it. This book is about someone contemporary and who has done it and done well at that. I have had the pleasure knowing Hani Khoja for many years now and now here I am writing about him and about his book which was a joy to read. It is a pleasant page-turner and in a way symbolic of the challenge that faces Saudi Arabia today. Hani Khoja gives some answers simply and wisely.
