JEDDAH — A man decapitated his own brother with a sharp object on Saturday, said Makkah Police spokesman Col. Ati Al-Qurashi.

The victim was only 17 years old.

“The murder took place in Al-Rabwah district north of Jeddah. The police found the decapitated body near the door of the house. The police scanned the entire house and lifted fingerprints. The forensic investigation report states that the victim was decapitated with a sharp object,” said Al-Qurashi.

He said the murderer locked himself in a room after the horrific crime.

“The murderer refused to answer any of the police’s questions and he refused to open the door. The police called the Civil Defense who broke the door down. The murderer showed no resistance to the police once they broke into the room,” said Al-Qurashi.
He said the murderer was a drug addict and suffered from mental illnesses.

“The body was discovered by the father who called the police. The father came home and saw the body of his son near the house,” said Al-Qurashi.

Psychologist Suad Al-Ghamdi said the murderer was very calm and did not show any sign of remorse.

Residents and citizens have not yet fully recovered from the shock of a gruesome beheading of a couple by their own son in Taif last month.

The gruesome incident took place in Taif city’s Al-Suhaili neighborhood.

The man, using a knife, had decapitated his parents — 59 year-old father and 48-year-old mother — after confining them inside a room in their home.

In this case also, the murderer had a history of mental illness.
