RIYADH — The Communications and Information Technology Commission reported the commission flagged 54,312 website links as pornographic websites.
A source said the commission is cooperating with several international companies to eliminate pornographic websites.
“The commission also flagged 510 website links as websites of child pornography. The commission also had 286 reports of communication and information technology devices being seized by the Custom Control. The commission also received 18,439 reports from the Custom Control to approve of electronic devises,” said the source.The source also said the commission is always updating the regulations of technical and communication devices.
“The commission approves technical and communication devices entering the borders of the Kingdom through an electronic platform between the commission and the Custom Control. The commission issued 841 violation notices with fines totaling to SR71 million. The fines were paid off except for SR1 million,” said the source.
The source also said the violations include transference of calls illegally, selling and possessing unlicensed wireless telecommunication devices, illegal prepaid top up cards, misusing telecommunication services, submitting incorrect information and violating number transference policies.
“The commission received 51,094 complaints from users of telecommunication and information technology services last years. Nineteen percent of the complaints were related to mobile Internet, 13 percent were related to immobile Internet, 37 percent were related to mobile phone and 16 percent of the complaints were related to prepaid mobile phone Internet,” said the source.
