JEDDAH — Leading global renal care provider Diaverum, having signed a five-year agreement with the Ministry of Health to treat and provide care for 5,000 patients by 2018, has reached a major milestone in opening its 21st clinic and treating more than 2,000 kidney patients. With chronic kidney disease rising by 10 percent year on year, this is a major health issue for the whole country and Diaverum is helping change the face of holistic kidney care, treatment, education and awareness in the process.
Crucially, this partnership has allowed Diaverum to build clinics in remote areas where it was once considered challenging for renal patients to get the specialized treatment they needed. This is in full alignment with the Saudi Vision 2030 to ensure state-of-the art healthcare services across the Kingdom and particularly for people living in rural regions who have traditionally been unable to access the care and treatment they needed.
Diaverum pushed through to this impressive milestone with the recent clinic opening in Dammam, which is a testament to their commitment to looking after the health and well being of the Saudi population in hard to reach areas. Clinics are now present in 15 cities throughout the Kingdom namely, Riyadh, Jeddah, Al-Rass, Al-Ahsa, Beesh, Buraidah, Dammam, Hafr Al-Batin, Khamis Mushayt, Madinah, Makkah, Najran, Unaizah, Qunfudhah and Taif.
Ziyad Kabli, Middle East managing director at Diaverum, said, “We are
delighted to have reached such an important milestone. Diaverum aims to make a tangible and positive impact on the lives of renal care patients and their families with our ever-expanding portfolio of clinics, expertise, and world-class technologies. We are also excited to be playing a pivotal role overall in the healthcare system by helping ensure that the government’s long term plans for a healthier and happier nation materialize, and we value the support we have received from the Ministry of Health as well as our patients”.
Diaverum has increased its capacity to address rising demand, with over 730 medical and non-medical staff currently working at clinics across the Kingdom. Diaverum’s full-range of personalized and tailored treatment offerings, under its patient choice program, such as self-care peritoneal dialysis, are directly related to lower rates of hospitalization and related morbidity and ultimately empower patients to have a better quality of life.
Additional services include holiday dialysis programs enabling patients to move freely between clinics, meaning they and their families can enjoy relaxation time while benefitting from the same quality and high standards. The company also provides education and emotional support for patients and their families, by creating a warm and friendly atmosphere via the Diaverum culture program “Touch”.
At the same time, the company continues to train the next generation of doctors and nurses through a knowledge transfer and collaboration scheme, ‘d.ACADEMY’, ensuring Saudis are ready to continue fighting the disease. Diaverum public health campaigns have also proved effective in raising awareness of these issues and the importance of lifestyle changes such as healthy eating.
Over the next five years, the company will have invested SR500 million in much needed critical healthcare infrastructure for the good of the Kingdom.
