Saudi cinema all set to make a splash in Jeddah

JEDDAH – Jeddah residents are eagerly looking forward to the first and largest event announced by the General Authority for Entertainment — Comic Global Universe. Official paperwork for the adoption and implementation of this event, to be held from Feb. 16 and 18 next year, reached the concerned authorities in the Makkah region, and will be held in the Events Square on the Corniche. The event will be organized as a large exhibition focusing on cartoon characters, movies, soap operas, amateur animation and cartoon fashion, similar to the event carried out by the company in Dubai last year, attended by 5,000 people from Saudi Arabia. Tickets range from SAR100 for a single day to SR850 for a multiday VIP package. The event will include an exclusive screening of the movie “Baraka Meets Baraka”, as well as workshops, competitions, and an area for gaming and virtual technology. — SG
