JEDDAH - Prince Mishal Bin Majed, governor of Jeddah, launched the Basher3 System for online registration of traffic accidents during a ceremony held at his office in Jeddah on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, Prince Mishal said that new batches of secret traffic patrol teams have been deployed in the city and this has been instrumental in reducing the percentage of traffic accidents for the last few months. The governor was briefed on the latest preparations of the secret traffic police and the substantial support being extended to them in terms of manpower and equipment as well as on the positive results of their work in the field. The secret police patrols will be concentrated mainly on certain areas of the city which are vulnerable to more traffic violations including stunt driving. Jeddah Traffic Director Brig. Gen. Sulaiman Al-Zokri and several other senior traffic officials attended the function. The Basher3 System offers a package of traffic services including online registration of information about traffic accidents by sending reports about accidents and the information about the vehicles involved directly to the database of the National Information Center. The Saudi Traffic Directorate had introduced the electronic Basher System in 2014, with issuing traffic tickets for offenders in the first phase.
