LOS ANGELES - The San Antonio Spurs erased an early 10-point deficit to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 105-91 Tuesday and extend their perfect record on the road to 13-0. The Spurs are closing in on NBA history. They became just the second team to win their first 13 away games, after the Golden State Warriors won their first 14 of last season. San Antonio notched away win No. 13 without veteran stars Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, with Parker ruled out because of a knee contusion and Ginobili in uniform but on the bench on the second night of back-to-back games. Kawhi Leonard more than took up the slack, scoring 31 points on 11-of-15 shooting. Australian guard Patty Mills came off the bench to add 15 points, five assists and four rebounds. Having twice trailed by 10 in the first half, the Spurs were down 46-43 at the interval. As they did Monday against the Bucks in Milwaukee, the Spurs produced a big third quarter to take control, out-scoring the Timberwolves 29-18 in the period. Knicks 114, Heat 103: Carmelo Anthony scored a season-high 35 points to lead the New York Knicks to a 114-103 road victory over the undermanned Miami Heat. Anthony’s outburst was the most points scored against Miami by any player this season, and the Knicks’ 114 points were also the most against the Heat. New York’s win was marred by the loss of point guard Derrick Rose, who scored 10 points before departing in the third quarter due to back spasms. He did not return. Magic 124, Wizards 116: Elfrid Payton scored 22 of his career-high 25 points in the first half as the surging Orlando Magic defeated the Wizards 124-116 despite a career-high 52 points from Washington’s John Wall. Payton made his first nine shot attempts as the Magic posted their highest point total of the season. Orlando (10-12) went 4-1 on its road trip after losing four in a row. Wall became the fourth NBA player to score 50 or more points in a single game this season but received little help thru three quarters. Pistons 102, Bulls 91: Tobias Harris led a balanced attack with 22 points and the Detroit Pistons rebounded after squandering a 17-point lead and downed the Chicago Bulls 102-91. Grizzlies 96, 76ers 91: Center Marc Gasol posted a double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds as the Memphis Grizzlies held on to beat the Philadelphia 76ers 96-91. Jazz 112, Suns 105: Gordon Hayward scored 28 points while Rudy Gobert added a career-high 22 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks to help the Utah Jazz claim a 112-105 victory over the Phoenix Suns.
