ResizeJEDDAH — Pakistan is a very strong nation and is capable of protecting its sovereignty and unique identity, a former federal minister has said here recently.
Pakistanis are very vibrant and have always shown their readiness to ward off any threat to the integrity and suzerainty of their country, said Chawdhry Shahbaz Hussain, who is also a prominent Jeddah-based businessman.
The former minister was addressing a function here to bid farewell to two long-time residents of Jeddah, Rao Muhammad Tahir and Abdul Rasheed, who have now decided to go back to Pakistan at the end of their respective tenures in the Kingdom.
Hussain was hopeful that Pakistanis will thwart all sinister attempts, from both in and outside the country, to destroy the very fabric of their dynamic nation.
The function was hosted by Bahjat Ayoob Zinjani (Najmi), a popular social and dawa worker in Jeddah. He is also president of the Haji Muhammad Ayub Seoharvi Welfare Organization, which has carved a niche in social welfare and philanthropic work, especially among the pilgrims.
Tahir, who spent about 38 years in the Kingdom, worked with Juffali business group and Abdul Rasheed gave 32 years of his life to Hadada Steel Ltd.
Prominent social and media personalities attended the event that was deftly conducted by noted journalist Asad Akram. Engineer Niaz Ahmad, president of Pakistan Writers Forum; Malik Mohiuddin, chief of the Jeddah chapter of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz); noted poet Zamruddin Khan Saifi were among those who attended the function.
Rao Tahir and Abdul Rasheed recalled several anecdotes of their stay in the Kingdom. They both claimed that they will devote much of their time to welfare and social activities back home. Mementos were also presented to them on the occasion.
Saifi, in his inimitable style, recited some of his couplets on current issues facing the Ummah and the international community.
