THE wait is over – Mercedes-Benz first mid-size sport utility coupé, the all-new GLC Coupé, is here and ready to impress with its powerful design of an SUV and the dynamic stylistic elements of a coupé

The rear view of the GLC Coupé reveals wide, muscular shoulders with harmoniously modeled wheel arches that house up to 20-inch wheels

A new, dynamic exterior and revised, luxurious interior clearly underscore the coupé flair and high-end ambience

With a standard-fit sports suspension as well as more direct sports steering, Dynamic Select and 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive with 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission, the new GLC Coupé is among the sportiest of the Mercedes Benz SUVs. Combining effortless comfort with sporty agility, the distinct sportiness and dynamism of the new GLC Coupé is enriched with high safety and state-of-the-art assistance systems.

“Effortless superiority, confidence and elegance are just some of the characteristics of the new GLC. With its modern and sensual design idiom, the GLC Coupé affirms the leadership position Mercedes-Benz holds in the SUV coupé segment,” said Lennart Mueller-Teut, Head of Marketing & Communications, Mercedes-Benz Cars Middle East. “The new SUV coupé is perfect for our performance-oriented customers in the region”.

The same successful blend of multifunctional SUV and dynamic coupé world, so positively received with the GLE Coupé, is now repeated with the GLC Coupé. With an exterior length of 4.73 meters, a height of 1.60 meters and a wheelbase of 2.87 meters, the GLC Coupé is dynamic and compact in appearance. It is also both longer and lower than the multi-talented GLC, with which it shares its basic architecture.

Dynamic elegance meets off-road passion

The GLC Coupé owes its distinct character to a characteristically coupé-esque, single-louvred diamond radiator grille and a restyled, dropping roofline. The A pillar is less steeply raked, while the continuation of the roof outline is lower, terminating in the elegantly flowing, muscular tail end characteristic of a coupé.

In addition to the radiator grille, striking features of the front end include integral star, short overhang and SUV inspired chromed underguard. The innovative headlamp concept, standard in LED High Performance technology (GCC only), sports the now characteristic Mercedes-Benz light signature. A striking injection of sports car genes is provided by the large lateral air inlets.

The harmony between the distinctive design worlds of coupé and SUV is revealed by the side view of the 1.60 meter-high GLC Coupé, with its characteristic, stretched roofline of a sports coupé. The squat greenhouse blends in seamlessly with the side of the vehicle to underline its coupé character. The interplay between high beltline and wide shoulders results in proportions that lend the GLC Coupé its dynamic looks. The interaction is emphasized by the drawn-in waist between the dropping line and the lower, rearwards ascending light-catching contour.

Thanks to its pronounced shoulders, muscular bumper design with integral exhaust tailpipe trims and underguard in the form of a diffuser, the wide tail end of the GLC Coupé underlines the vehicle's athletic looks. Narrow, split taillights, a centrally positioned brand star and a sharp spoiler lip reflect a design that made its debut with the S-Class Coupé and which all Mercedes-Benz coupé models have since followed.

Relocated to the lower section of the bumper, the number plate as well as the characteristic form of the rear window with its rounded upper area, are among the further stylistic features. Like the headlamps, the night design of the LED taillights sports the hallmark light signature of Mercedes-Benz.

The AMG Exterior Line comes as standard in the GCC. It includes AMG front and rear apron, 5-twin spoke 48.3 cm (19-inch) AMG light-alloy wheels or 50.8 centimeters (20-inch) in multispoke design (optional), painted titanium grey or black with a high-sheen finish, with mixed-size tires, diamond radiator grille with pins in chrome, integral Mercedes star and single louvre in matt iridium silver with chrome insert.

Interior: Modern with characteristic coupé flair

A gallery of coupé flair and high-grade ambience underscore the design idiom that combines sensual purity with dynamic sportiness. Distinctive stylistic elements of the GLC Coupé are the dashboard and the center console with its flowing lines: a large, one-piece console panel below the semi-integrated media display, offering unmatched comfort.

The optionally available AMG Interior line provides a clear commitment to even greater dynamism and sportiness. This package includes, for example, sports seats with upholstery in ARTICO man-made leather/DINAMICA microfiber with the option of sports seats with bi-color look leather upholstery. — SG
