Sports day at Hukamaa International culminates with impressive showing

JEDDAH — Hukamaa International School, Jeddah, had another thrilling Annual Sports Day event in both lower and higher grade sections. Spectacular performances, outstanding games and colorful presentations marked the event, which began with the recitation of the Holy Qur›an and the National Anthem. Speeches by the head girl and the house captain followed. School principal Sadia Kaleem, in her motivating speech, encouraged and appreciated the spirit of the participants, the teachers and the staff of Al-Hukamaa. School director Aminah Khan too encouraged all with her presence at the event. Guests included Rubeela Jameel, principal of Beladi Int’l School; Rukshanda Puri, social worker; and Mumtaz Naaz. Fariha Kaleem too played an activate role in the successful organization of the event. The principal distributed of badges and flags to the house captains, which was followed by an oath taking ceremony by the head girls. After an astonishing march past, the guests lighted the torch with the principal and handed it to the head girl and the day began. There was a spirit of healthy competition among the four houses. The music and various games added to the excitement when counting of the points to declare the winning house began. The tiny tots too were thrilled with their tiny steps doing great stunts. In the middle and high school section the games took a new turn with new ideas and excitement. The games included tapping the balloon with the ring, the balloon train, hop the hoop, basket balls, sack race, bouncing and collecting balls, ringa ringa, throw the ball, tic-tac-toe, dog and the bone, crown sack race, ping pong, aim the bottles, bucket water race, tap the balloon and kick the ball, holding balls with brushes, dropping coins, dip and drop, and the block race. The Yellow House became the overall champions, followed by the Blue and Red house in second and third positions. Trophies were presented to the winners.
