It’s an important question because for many YouTubers out there, it’s a real job for them that virtually didn’t exist until a few years ago.
When you watch a YouTuber calling on viewers to “subscribe, subscribe, subscribe!” at the end of each video, know that they’re in it not just for the fame but also for the cash flow.
But is there a lot of money behind the YouTube business? Depending on how many subscribers are there, content creators with 1,000 views on a video YouTube will offer about $1.50. Only when you get 1,000 subscribers will you be starting to get paid.
Not much? Well, there are other ways to make big money for YouTubers, especially full-timers.
Advertising is key. Putting ads in the beginning of videos will guarantee people to watch at least 30 seconds. YouTube will tally the revenue they make from ads and split the profit.
Another way is to get sponsored. Sponsors will pay YouTubers to advertise for their product by using it either directly or indirectly. Simply displaying the product in the background during the video is an example. Some marketing experts even say that this is a better way to get paid than typical video advertisements.
Getting a Patreon account is a popular form of getting paid. Patreon gives a chance to viewers to pay for the content, similar to a donation, but will offer fans rewards in return. The site will take 10% of the money flown in.
Making money off YouTube is not as glamorous as people think it is. However getting creative with different ways can guarantee it to be a “stable” job.
