A short demonstration of how the project works was given to the audience to have an idea about the smart security gates as well as the systems and technologies used in designing them. The demonstration was accompanied by a brief profile of Allihyani, who has a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the School of Environmental Designs, King Abdulaziz University, and a master's in architecture from the School of Architecture and Planning, King Saudi University. He has also completed several architecture drawing courses as well as project management and planning courses. In 2015, Allihyani won the Prince Sultan Bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Urban Heritage Award. The Directorate of Prisons has already started implementing the smart security gate projects all over the country. The design was inspired by the prisons’ official logo, which is an eye, symbolizing vigilance. The project aims to unify the architectural design of all prison entrances and instill a positive images about prison projects. Security-wise, the gates are designed based on global standards and according to highly advanced security systems. The gates quickly record the license plates of any approaching vehicle, thanks to the advanced and integrated surveillance systems incorporated in them. All the gates have special inspection and checking systems to scan the lower side of the vehicle and enable the officer to see all parts below the vehicle body including the steering wheel. Each gate has cameras to scan the license plate numbers and letters and help the officer decides the model of the vehicle, year of making, registration information. This helps find out if the vehicle is stolen. All technology systems, equipped in the gates, work in severe weather elements. The cameras take picture of all passengers inside the car and help the officer identify them.
