DOHA — ‹Shop Qatar› festival will conclude a month of exciting promotions, performances and outdoor festivities with a thrilling closing ceremony at Mall of Qatar tomorrow (Feb. 7). Offering a free live performance by Iraqi singer Majid Al Mohandes, special effects, and entertainment for the whole family, the event promises a fitting end to the first edition of Qatar’s inaugural shopping festival. The ceremony will feature Shop Qatar’s final raffle draw, which will unveil the winner of QAR1 million. Shoppers still have a chance to hit the jack-pot or win 14 other cash prizes by spending QAR200 at any of the participating retail or food and beverage outlets participating in the festival. The outlets are spread out around Shop Qatar’s retail partners, which include Mall of Qatar, Ezdan Mall, Hyatt Plaza, AlKhor Mall, Lagoona Mall, Gulf Mall, Landmark, Dar Al Salam Mall, The Gate and The Pearl-Qatar. Rashed Al Qurese, Chief Marketing and Promotion Officer at Qatar Tourism Authority, said: “As the latest addition to the growing annual calendar of festivals we have developed over the past few years, Shop Qatar has been well received by residents and visitors alike. We are grateful to all of our partners in the retail, hospitality, travel and entertainment and even education sectors who have helped us provide such a rich and engaging offering throughout the month. The success we achieved through their active participation is testament to the impact that can be made through cross-sector partnerships, especially those that bring together members of the public and private sectors.” The closing ceremony will be presented by comedian Mohamad Al Tamimi and TV presenter Hassan Al Sai. A packed entertainment schedule will start at 7.00 p.m., bringing to audiences a traditional Qatari ‘Ardha, a Palestinian Dabka, and an Indian show all framed with delightful light effects. Shop Qatar was launched this year to celebrate Qatar’s diverse retail sector, which offers everything from luxury malls and high-end boutique precincts to themed, entertainment-rich shopping centers, as well as authentic souqs and bazaars. With the anticipated opening of many new shopping and entertainment hubs, future editions of Shop Qatar are expected to pave the way for their success by driving footfall and raising awareness of the unique experiences the country has to offer. — SG
