The felicitation function and Mushaira was held at Paradise Banquet Hall here. Senior Indian expatriate Mir Ahmed Ali was honored with a memento for the decades of services for the promotion of Urdu language and culture here. Mir Firasat Ali Khusrow read an article about Ahmed Ali and recalled that he played an important role in organizing cultural gatherings here. The two poets Hashmat Siddqui and Malik Mohiuddin were felicitated for their poetic contributions during their stay in the Kingdom. All the three Urdu literary figures are returning back to their homeland. Senior Journalist Mohammed Saifuddin was also honored on this occasion in recognition of his contributions to English and Urdu media. A former employee of Munsif daily and Awam Urdu daily, he also contributed to Saudi Gazette as a freelancer during his stay in Jeddah. Saif was associated with yahind.com since its early days and is currently a Joint Editor. Through his articles he highlighted various problems and issues of Indian expatriate in the Gulf countries. Mohammed Tajamul Ali Khan introduced Mohammed Saifuddin and briefed all about his journalistic career. A Mushaira was also held on this occasion in which several prominent poets of Riyadh rendered their poetry. In addition Hashmat Siddqui and Malik Mohiuddin, Taher Bilal, Rizwan ul Haq Allahabadi, Sager Rahmani, Sajadullah Khan Fikri, Kurshidul Hasan Naiyer, Shaukat Jamal, Abu Nabil Khaja Masiuddin and chief guest of the Mushaira presented their couplets. The poets Siddqui and Mohiuddin highlighted the current situation in Syria. Abu Nabil Khaja Masiuddin conducted the proceeding of the Mushaira, and Bazm Rabab Sahra General Secretary Kurshidul Hasan Naiyer welcomed the gathering and introduced the awardees. Acting President NRIF Riyadh Dr. Sayeed Mohiuddin proposed the vote of thanks. Vice President Cultural Affairs NRI Forum and Cultural Secretary Bazm-e-Rabab-e-Shara Shakeel MAH actively participated in organizing the event. Abdul Hameed, Mohammed Quaiser, Dr. Ozair Ghazi and Mir Firasat Ali Khusrow presented plaques of appreciation to the awardees. Many prominent NRIs and representatives of cultural and social organizations attended the event.
