Saudi designer Elham Al-Oufi makes her fashion debut with new collection

Saleh Fareed JEDDAH - Saudi fashion designer Elham Al-Oufi released her first bridal and elegant evening gowns collection at an exclusive fashion show here in Jeddah. With the attendance of Saudi businesswomen, stylists, fashion personalities, members of Jeddah community and media representatives, the intimate fashion event provided a rare opportunity to meet the talented Jeddah-based designer and discover her coveted line of bridal and eveningwear. The young designer has carved out a niche for herself with strong graphic clothes and rich color combinations. During her presentation of around 20 newly-designed dresses, the designer explained: “My approach to design is very personal and I always have a confident modern woman in mind when creating each collection. Fashion can be very inspiring and empowering at the same time, but it’s also important to dress women for the many roles they play in their daily lives.” Her collection, which was being shown for the first time, offers all types of traditional outfits, mainly evening and wedding wear. The product range varies from simple lawn outfits to designer party and bridal wear. She said that the concept of perfection is her main goal, “In my fashion, I try to match and create designs to satisfy Saudi women’s needs considering of course our traditions,” she added. Guests sat entranced as models strutted down the runway. Jeddah’s community of fashionistas were given a special treat, as the designer presented them with her collections. “I’m very pleased to introduce my 2017 collection in front such a big crowd and hope they like it,” she said. Her designs were lauded by attendees for their unique style. Alaa Tamar, an actress, said “This show by Elham was very classy and elegant and she is proving that she coming strong to the fashion industry and it seems that she is very determined to reach her goals.” Meanwhile, Saudi businesswoman Sona Abdulqader praised Al-Oufi’s artistic and creative credentials. “When you put art and creativity together the result is a great work. Her collection was both modern and feminine.”
