JEDDAH — Pakistan Consul General Shehryar Akbar Khan lauded various welfare activities of Pakistan Welfare Society (PWS) for the expatriate community here including regular fortnightly free medical camp.
He was addressing the gathering as chief guest in the function organized by PWS on its 11th foundation anniversary recently.
He also lauded the historic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He appreciated the cooperation of Saudi doctors with PWS.
Khan urged the Pakistani business community and professionals to continue their support to Pakistan through remittances and investments.
He awarded certificates to PWS volunteers, which included a number of Pakistani and Saudi doctors and other members of the community.
Professionals and prominent personalities from business community and others attended. Rafiq Jawaid, minister at Consulate General Pakistan Jeddah, also attended as guest of honor.
The event started with recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by Qari Mohammad Asif. Naat was presented by Mohammad Nawaz Janjua.
Dr. Rabia Khatoon, in-charge ladies wing PWS, welcomed the guests and highlighted the key activities of the ladies wing.
Dr. Khalil-ur-Rehman, president PWS, presented the annual report and highlighted the progress of two floors building of the Pakistan Kidney Center (PKC) — the first charity kidney hospital in the Abbottabad Hazara Division of KPK province of Pakistan.
He said, our mission is to bring the state-of-the-art facilities for dialysis and treatment of kidney diseases for people of Pakistan, especially for most deserving and needy to save their lives and to help them to live a near normal life.
Dr. Amjad Obaid delivered lecture on ‘Preventive Health’ and underscored the importance of healthy eating for healthy life. He also talked about the Tibb-e-Nabwi and listed the foods that are healthy according to Qur’an and Ahadith.
Dr. Mahboob ul Haq Siddiqui conducted a health quiz, which the audience participated enthusiastically. The program ended with prayers by Moulana Habib-ur-Rehman. Dr. Shams ur Rehman Toor was master of ceremony.
