Amman — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman attended a military parade at Al-Raya Square in Amman on Tuesday. The King was accompanied by King Abdullah of Jordan. The two leaders watched a variety of military parades and air shows.
The Jordanian king decorated King Salman with the Order of Al-Hussein Bin Ali, the highest knighthood order of the Kingdom of Jordan, awarded to kings and heads of state. It was founded on June 22, 1949, by King Abdullah I of Jordan. The class of Grand Cordon was introduced by King Hussein on Sept. 23, 1967.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and Jordan voiced deep concern over Iran’s intervention in the internal affairs of the states in the region as well as its attempt to trigger sectarian strife and support to terrorism. In a joint statement issued on Tuesday evening on the occasion of the visit of King Salman and his meeting with King Abdullah, the two sides reiterated their determination to work for closing Arab and Muslim ranks and enhance fraternal relations among the Arab and Islamic countries.
While noting that the dangers of terrorism, extremism and violence pose a big threat to peace and security in the region and the world as a whole, the two states vowed support to all global efforts to fight these menaces. The statement also lauded the strong bilateral relations and the efforts to further bolster them at all levels.
King Salman is in Jordan to attend the 28th Arab Summit starting Wednesday.
On Monday King Salman and King Abdullah of Jordan oversaw the signing of 15 agreements and memoranda of understanding, including establishing a joint fund that will launch an estimated $3 billion worth of investments.
Planned projects include reconstruction and rehabilitation of a north-south highway in Jordan and setting up a power plant on Jordan’s eastern border.
