JAZAN — Seven Civil Defense teams from different regions of Jazan took three hours to contain a fire at a petrol station in Al-Daghareer, north of Samta. The fire erupted as a tanker was unloading fuel in the petrol station. People were evacuated from nearby buildings. The flames could be seen from a distance of 5 km, witnesses said. Firefighters used foam to control the fire from spreading. Maj. Gen. Hasan Al-Gefaili, director of Civil Defense in Jazan, said the fire was the result of improper unloading of fuel.
