DUBAI – A Dubai court has acquitted an 18-year-old Saudi student of killing a Scottish chef who died a few months ago after being pushed by the student during an argument that took place last July, according to Al-Hayat daily.
The unnamed Saudi student was walking on the street when Martin Carr got off a cab and began abusing him.
The cab driver told the court that Carr was drunk and did not know where he was going.
The cab driver saw him approach the student and hit him on his hands. Few moments later, the argument developed and the student pushed Carr away.
In his drunken stupor, Carr lost balance and fell, his head hitting the pavement.
He was rushed to hospital where he slipped into a coma. He died a month later.
The student told the court that he had never met Carr and did not have any intention to hurt him. He was simply trying to defend himself and that was why he pushed Carr away when the latter pulled his shirt.
