PRINCE Turki Bin Abdullah opened the American Express World Luxury Expo on Wednesday at the Ritz Carlton. The American Express World Luxury Expo, which runs until May 5, will showcase an impressive range of high-end, handmade and limited edition luxury products to discerning visitors. It is the 10th edition overall and the fifth to be held under the headline sponsorship of American Express.

At this year’s event in Riyadh, visitors were taking full advantage of the opportunity to test drive the latest Aston Martin sports car or view a two-man personal submarine that allows passengers to explore underwater at their leisure — the ultimate superyacht accessory.

Visitors also viewed one of the safest and smartest autonomous aerial vehicles (AAV) – “the flying car” of the future for luxury personal transport. A large delegation from Japan arrived with luxury fashion and accessories, while other products included the world-famous Collectors Cars from Seven Car Lounge and one of the best collections of diamonds and jewelry seen in the entire history of the event.

Graham Cooke, president and founder of event owner World Luxury Group, said: “Many highly affluent visitors are already experiencing a truly exclusive and world-class exhibition showcasing only the very best luxury products. This encouraging start is no doubt down to our successful relationship with American Express. Prince Turki Bin Abdullah’s patronage only adds to the prestige of the American Express World Luxury Expo.”

Assim Al Shmassi of American Express said: “What we are witnessing is that there are many discerning individuals who want to be a cut above the rest when it comes to their ownership of the finest products. We’re delighted with the initial response to the American Express World Luxury Expo and it bodes well for future editions.”

American Express recently announced an extension of their sponsorship of the World Luxury Expo in Riyadh and Jeddah until 2018. The Jeddah event will be held at the new, majestic and highly anticipated Ritz Carlton. — SG
