CANBERRA - Australian actor Craig McLachlan has left a stage show and a TV series he was to star in suspended production after three actresses accused him of indecent assault, sexual harassment and bullying four years ago.
The 52-year-old actor, who is a household name in Australia, has denied the allegations, which were first reported in the media on Tuesday.
McLachlan gained international followings in the 1980s and 1990s through his roles in the Australian television soap operas "Neighbours" and "Home and Away," and the British spy drama series "Bugs."
The accusations were leveled by three actresses who were cast members of a 2014 production in the city of Melbourne of the "The Rocky Horror Show," in which McLachlan starred as the alien Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
The actresses Angela Scundi, Erika Heynatz and Christie Whelan Browne made the allegations in interviews reported by Fairfax Media and broadcast by Australian Broadcasting Corp. through a joint investigation on Tuesday. Scundi and Heynatz also complained in December to Victoria state police, who confirmed on Tuesday that they were investigating. - AP
