IT seems that the Almighty has blessed the staff of Hail University with superb education and intellect. These are features that are only found in the most fortunate of people.

The high-quality learning has enabled a research team from the university to build a submarine, which has successfully passed all the safety tests.

The incredibility appeared in the statement of the head of the team who said the submarine had been tested in the swimming pools of the university and a rest house.

As the head of the team was not kidding, though he seemed to be jovial, we should absolutely believe him when he claims that the safety tests were carried out in the swimming pools of the university and a rest house in this northern city.

Many of Hail residents wonder why the university does not focus instead on the issues of concern to the region instead of futile submarines. They noted that Hail is about 1,000 km away from the Red Sea and 1,000 km away from the Arabian Gulf.

These residents have clearly missed an important point: The university is located on the shores of its swimming pool and that of a rest house. These two locations have enabled the submarine to successfully pass the international safety measures.

The head of the scientific team said the submarine can perform intricate security functions and can disseminate data very easily to places inaccessible by man in the depth of the oceans.

The scientific team did not only build the submarine but also came up with another great achievement. The researchers proved that the swimming pools of the university and the rest house could provide testing grounds that are not less suitable than oceans and seas.

Therefore, instead of criticizing the university for getting involved in issues that are of no use to the region, we should ask it to register the two swimming pools as testing grounds, which is so much more than what Olympic and the five-star-hotel swimming pools could hope to achieve.
