JEDDAH — Saudi citizens have the opportunity to build on cultural aspects to contribute to the efforts to improve the quality of life in the Kingdom and achieve economic growth, stated experts at a seminar organized by the Makkah Economic Forum.

Focused on the Quality of Life Program under Saudi Vision 2030, the seminar on the topic, "Cultural Impact in the Landscape of Quality of Life Transformation", highlighted the importance of productivity of individuals and investment opportunities available to young businessmen and businesswomen in the Kingdom. The views presented at the seminar, organized by the Emirate of Makkah Province and Jeddah Chamber, were significant considering that Vision 2030 has set out specific goals and commitments to ensure physical, economic, social, mental and environmental wellbeing of the people in the country.

Dr. Sami Angawi, general director and founder of Al Makkiyah Al Madaniyah Institute, said the concept of quality of life should be viewed in a holistic manner since it is related to the cultural view of each individual and each component of society. The success of efforts to improve the quality of life in the Kingdom depends on the contribution of every individual in society, Angawi said, calling on people to start with themselves and their families.

Angawi described a society in which every individual contributes to quality of life efforts as safe and secure and capable of offering excellent government services, entertainment activities and high-quality healthcare services. He pointed out that cultural impact on individuals defines how quality of life can be enhanced through new job opportunities and a diversified economy, which ultimately reflects positively on the members of the society.

Dr. Ghazi Binzagr, member of Al Shoura Council, stressed the importance of expanding the cultural aspect of an individual to enable the person to view life from a broader perspective and consider those around in a positive manner. When an individual possesses a deep-rooted cultural viewpoint beyond the individual level and closer to the society level, such a person is in a position to contribute to improving the quality of life and contribute to economic growth, Binzagr said.

He urged the youth to seize the opportunities available in the Quality of Life Program and translate them into successful businesses to contribute to the efforts to improve the quality of life in the Kingdom.

The seminar witnessed considerable participation from the audience who expressed their views about the concept of the quality of life and the best methods to contribute to its improvement.

The seminar was held as part of a series of activities lined up by the Makkah Economic Forum across the entire year to involve the private sector as an active partner in the region’s development programs and help realize the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. — SG
