RIYADH
— Heavy to medium rain is expected in various parts of the Kingdom starting next week, according to the General Authority of Meteorology and Environment Protection.

The authority said there were chances of thunderstorms and heavy to medium rain in the afternoons in the provinces of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Makkah and Madinah from Thursday onward.

It did not dismiss the possibility of the rain extending to the coastal areas of these regions.

The authority also expected dust and sandstorm in the coastal areas of Makkah that may extend up to Jazan in the south.

It forecast active surface winds during day hours in some regions including eastern Riyadh, Najran and the eastern areas of Makkah and Madinah.

The authority said the hot weather would prevail during the day in most of the regions but the temperatures would be moderate in the southern and southwestern heights.

The authority asked the citizens and expatriates to follow and heed weather warnings on its website and on social media tools.
