Has anyone ever stopped you from biting your nails or picking your nose, whilst you are sitting with family or friends? At that moment you might not even have realized that you are were doing something inappropriate, until you were stopped. Sometimes it happens that you stare at someone or interrupt the elders who are talking with each other, without even knowing it is impolite.
There is a saying that friends and good manners will carry you where money won’t. Good manners show others that you have respect for them. Good manners make you beautiful and attractive. It helps you achieving success throughout life.
Behaving in a bad way will not only portray you as an ill-mannered person, but even questions your upbringing. Your parents continuously ask you to be polite and humble with people, and teach you the right way to talk with them. Even if you are in a hurry, don’t hesitate to show good manners.
How would you feel if you want to talk with a friend, but he has turned his back on you? How would it feel when you gift someone, they never say thank you? Good manners is all about being good and showing respect to yourself and others. It shows humanity and your kind-heart.
Practice good manners and you will be able to pass every exam. Pointer below will give you a good start.
• When you are asking for something, like a glass of water from your mother or pocket money from you father, say “ Please”
• When you received what you want, be grateful to them. Say “Thank You” when your mother fetches you a glass of water and your father gives you pocket money.
• If you see a door is closed then don’t go on opening it. Knock first and ask for permission from inside.
• Do not interrupt your parents or other elders when they are speaking. Let them finish, and speak on your turn. However, if you want to get attention, have it by saying “excuse me”
• Always share what you have. Whether it is a bar of your favorite chocolate, or a glass of milkshake. Sharing shows that you care.
• If you want something don’t just take it; ask if you can borrow it. If you take a pencil, notebook, cap or anything from your friend, ask first and later return it on time.
• Human beings are created by ALLAH (SWT), so you should not comment about how fat or ugly they look. Everyone is beautiful, but not everyone sees it. Do not hurt others by passing on a rude remark about their physical feature.
• Don’t make fun of anyone by giving them mean names.
• Don’t use foul language, no matter how angry you are. It is disrespectful and offensive.
• Cover your mouth when you cough, sneeze or yawn.
• If you have done something wrong, apologize immediately. Say “Sorry” and ask how you can make it right
• Try not to pick your nose or bite your nails in public. Some people shake their legs while sitting or waiting. It does not look good to others.
• Smile at those who talk to you. It will make them happy.
• When in public, never break the queue. Always have fun, but don’t be loud which disturb others.
