Bombay-born, American artist Kavi will be showcasing her new multi-media works at Spectrum Miami as one of their selected Rising Artists. Now in its eighth year, Spectrum Miami will be held from December 5 to 9, at Mana Wynwood.

“I’m honored that my pieces stood out to the jurors and that I have the opportunity to show my work to a large and discerning audience in one of my favorite cities,” Kavi told Saudi Gazette.

Her works incorporate different media- photography colored with watercolor, ink, or acrylic and embellished with materials such as glass, paper collage, and resin. “My recent works were greatly influenced by my upbringing as a Bombay-born, California-raised teen. I wanted to highlight different life experiences in my work. Every layer tells a story—another reason I love using mixed media. As an artist, I thrive on overcoming obstacles that arise during the many hours it takes to produce such a layered piece, the 33-year-old artist said. Kavi has just finished an expansive 15-foot-wide mural at the entrance of the new Bombay-inspired restaurant Gupshup in New York’s Gramercy neighborhood.

She currently lives in Daytona Beach with her husband and two children. Kavi sits on the board of the Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens, and is also part of the organization Art in the Alley Daytona, which is revitalizing the downtown with murals.
