New York City — Celebrities and activists gathered in New York City for the 14th Annual UNICEF Snowflake Ball on Tuesday.

The annual black-tie event, held at Cipriani Wall Street, celebrates UNICEF’s work to save the lives of children around the world and also serves as a fundraiser for the organization.

Former Beatle Ringo Starr is to be honored with the George Harrison Humanitarian Award, named after his former bandmate, in recognition of his commitment to environmental and humanitarian causes.

Additionally, the UNICEF Snowflake, which hangs each year at the intersection of 57th Street and Fifth Avenue was lit during the gala. — Agencies
