Lindsay Lohan has revealed the inspiration behind creating her new MTV reality series Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club, which launched Tuesday night in the US.

The 32-year-old actress says she wanted to create a place where everyone ‘could feel safe’ after an alleged domestic abuse incident with her former fiancé Russian multimillionaire Egor Tarabasov.

“I was in a very tumultuous relationship. I was in a different place in my life. Instead of crying or getting angry, I said I’m going to own this beach one day because I always want everyone to feel safe,” Lohan said during the premiere episode.

On the show, Lohan is seen managing her new beach bar and club in the Greek island of Mykonos. Her creative partner, Panos Spentzos, went into further detail behind her inspiration for the series.

“Three years ago, Lindsay was there on that beach with her ex-boyfriend. She got hit by him. She wanted to remember this beach as a very fun place, not what happened to her,” Spentoz said. — Agencies
