Riyadh — Saudi Arabia said it executed 37 citizens on Tuesday after they were convicted of terrorism.
The sentences were carried out in Riyadh, Makkah, Madinah, the Eastern Province, Qassim and Asir regions
The men were executed for adopting terrorist and extremist ideology and for forming terrorist cells to corrupt and destabilize security as well as spread chaos and provoke sectarian strife, an Interior Ministry statement said.
The convicts were also found guilty of attacking headquarters of security forces by using explosives, and killing a number of security men.
It said that one person was crucified after his execution, a punishment reserved for particularly serious crimes.
