JEDDAH —
The Council of Ministers reaffirmed that Saudi Arabia always seeks peace and will do everything in its power to prevent any war in the region. Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman chaired the weekly session of the Cabinet at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah on Tuesday night.

In a statement to Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Media Turki Al-Shabanah said that the Cabinet also reiterated the country’s commitment to achieve balance in the oil market and working towards its stability on a sustainable basis.

Al-Shabanah said the Cabinet renewed the Kingdom’s resolve to maintain peace in the region, saying that the Kingdom’s hand is always extended to peace.

“The Kingdom always seeks to achieve peace, and believes that the people of the region, including the Iranian people, have the right to live in security and stability and to move towards achieving development.”

The Cabinet called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities by taking a firm stance against the Iranian regime to coerce it to stop its behavior and prevent it from spreading destruction and chaos throughout the world.

It also urged the international community to act against Iran’s proxies, and to steer them away from recklessness and senseless behaviors so as to spare the region dangers and not to push the region toward undesirable consequences.

The Cabinet affirmed that invitation, extended by King Salman to the leaders of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and the Arab countries, to hold the Gulf and Arab emergency summits in Makkah on May 30 reflects his keenness to consult and coordinate with these countries pertaining to enhancing security and stability in the region.

This is particularly in the backdrop of the acts of the Iranian regime and its aggressive proxies in the region and their grave repercussions on the regional and international peace and security as well as on the supply and stability of the world oil markets.

The Cabinet hoped that the 14th Session of the Islamic Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to be chaired by King Salman on May 31, under the theme of “Makkah Summit: Hand in Hand towards the Future”, would take a unified stance towards various issues and the ongoing developments in the Islamic world.
