Saudi Arabia reports 1,172 new coronavirus cases, 6 more deaths

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia announced on Friday 1,172 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 15,102, according to a statement by the Ministry of Health.

The statement said that 124 more patients have recovered while reporting six more deaths, bringing the total number of recoveries and fatalities to 2,049 and 127 respectively so far in the country.

Among the newly detected cases, 25 percent of them are of Saudi nationals while 75 percent of them are expatriates, according the ministry’s spokesman Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali.

The spokesman added that 93 cases are in a critical condition and are in the intensive care unit.

Most number of the cases were reported from Madinah with 272 while Makkah and Jeddah registered 242 and 210 cases respectively. — SG
