Oman reports 348 new coronavirus cases

MUSCAT — Oman on Tuesday recorded 348 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the Sultanate to 8,118, the country’s Health Ministry said in a statement carried by Omani news agency ONA reported.

Of the new cases, 171 were Omani nationals and 177 expatriates, the ministry said without giving a breakdown of foreign patients’ nationalities.

According to the ministry’s statement, the total number of deaths from COVID-19 in the country stands at 37, however, the fatalities announced in the previous statement stood at 36, suggesting one new death from the virus.

The ministry also announced 134 more recoveries, taking the total number to 20,67.

The ministry one again called on citizens and residents to follow all precautionary measures, including social and physical distancing, in addition to staying at home and not going out unless necessary.
