Saudi Arabia sees drop in new COVID-19 cases, spike in recoveries

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia on Friday recorded 1,581 new coronavirus cases and 2,460 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, according to a statement from the health ministry.

This brings the number of total confirmed COVID-19 infections and recoveries in the Kingdom to 81,766 and 57,013 respectively.

Saudi Arabia has seen a consistent downward trend in number of COVID-19 infections and a spike in number of recoveries in the last few days.


The ministry also reported 17 more deaths, taking the total number of fatalities to 458 in the Kingdom, which is relatively low compared to other countries.

Of the new cases, Riyadh continued to report the most number of cases with 483 new infections while Jeddah, Makkah, Dammam and Hufof registered 251, 189, 124and 107 cases respectively.
