TAIF — The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Taif Governorate has identified a rare type of tree known as the dragon blood tree, Khuzum, Al-Akhawain, or Dam Al-Akhawain.

The trees are found in Al-Aila villages, south of Taif Governorate, west of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The trees have aesthetic and medical values recorded in ancient history. They grow in the Sarawat Mountains range in the western part of the Kingdom and are threatened with extinction.

Due to the importance of these trees and their scarcity, officials at the Office of the Ministry in Taif Governorate have been keen on setting their location, identifying and preserving them.

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture is working on sustainable agricultural and rural development in the Kingdom, by exploiting and investing opportunities and available resources.

The ministry, in addition, benefits from the comparative advantages in different regions, according to natural resources, agricultural potential and population. — SPA
