Saudi Arabia announces 833 coronavirus cases as new infections continue to drop

RIYADH — Coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia have continued to drop with 833 new infections reported on Thursday, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom to 318,319, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

The Kingdom’s death tally has risen to 3,982 after 26 more people succumbed to the deadly virus during the past 24 hours, according to the statement.

The holy cities of Makkah and Madinah recorded the highest number of news cases on Thursday with 82 and 74 new infections respectively, while Dammam reported 48, Hufof 46, Dhahran 45, Riyadh 37, and Jeddah 31 new cases.

The ministry also announced that 1,454 infected patients have completely recovered from the disease, braining the total number of recoveries to 293,964, with the recovery rate reaching 92.34 percent.

There are 20,373 active cases in the country out of which 1,495 are critical and receiving necessary treatment.
