Saudi Arabia sees 477 new COVID-19 infections as recovery rate nears 96%

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s on Tuesday recorded 477 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 337,243, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

Twenty-five more died over the past 24 hours from complications caused by COVID-19, taking the total number virus-related fatalities to 4,923.

The ministry also reported 557 new recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 322,612 with the recovery rate rising to 95.66 percent.

Of the new cases, Madinah recorded the highest number of cases with 71 infections followed by Makkah with 46, Hafouf with 36, Yanbu with 29 and Riyadh with 28. The remaining cases were detected in different cities and governorates across the Kingdom.

Active cases remained below 1,000-mark with 9,708 reported on Tuesday, out of which 932 are critical.
