RIYADH — Arab Coalition forces successfully intercepted and destroyed on Saturday morning an armed drone launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia toward the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Southern Region, Saudi Press Agency reported, citing a statement from the coalition.

In the statement, the official spokesman for the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen Col. Turki Al-Maliki, said: “The Joint Coalition Forces have intercepted and destroyed this morning (Saturday) a bomb-laden UAV launched systematically and deliberately by the terrorist Houthi militia to target civilians and civilian objects in the Southern Region.”

This is the third drone attack thwarted by the Coalition forces as the terrorist Houthi militia had earlier intercepted and destroyed an explosive-laden drone in the Yemeni airspace, which was launched by the terrorist Houthis, on Wednesday and on Tuesday, the Coalition forces intercepted and destroyed an explosive-laded drone launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militia targeting the Saudi city of Najran.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Dr. Yousef Bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen had praised the vigilance of the Coalition forces, which managed to intercept and destroy a drone in Yemeni airspace.

Al-Othaimeen reiterated in a statement on Wednesday the OIC's condemnation of the continuation of the terrorist Houthi militia and those who support it with money and weapons in launching bomb-laden drones and targeting innocent civilians and civilian objects in a systematic and deliberate manner.

Pakistan, on Friday, too strongly condemned the recent bomb-laden UAV attack that targeted the Kingdom by the terrorist Houthi militia. A statement issued t by the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Pakistan appreciates the Saudi successful interception of the bomb-laden UAV, which prevented the loss of innocent lives, adding that Pakistan calls for immediate cessation of such attacks.

The statement reiterates Pakistan's full support and solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against any threats to its security and territorial integrity. — SPA
