WASHINGTON
— Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan stressed that Iran wants the conflict in Yemen to go on and it continues to supply the Houthi militia with weapons.

Prince Faisal Bin Farhan made these remarks during a virtual talk session with the Washington Institute, a think tank based in Washington, on Thursday.

The Saudi minister said that the ”maximum pressure campaign is working and the Iranian regime is less capable of supporting its proxies,. The campaign has constrained and contained Iran more than in the past.”

On the Saudi Arabia-US strategic dialogue, Prince reaffirmed that the bilateral relationship is still relevant, strong and joint interests are extensive.

Prince Faisal described the US-Saudi Arabia relationship as beneficial for the world. “Saudi-US partnership is critical in addressing Iran’s behavior.”

“Saudi-US relationship remains strong. There is a mutual mission to bring people and nations together, value peace and security, and to always seek negotiation and diplomacy,” Prince Faisal said.

Regarding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Prince Faisal said: “The focus now should be to get Palestinian and Israelis back to the negotiating table.”

“The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain's normalization deal with Israel takes annexation off the table for the time being. The annexation was a significant threat to peace. More work needs to be done,” he added.

Prince Faisal Bin Farhan will mark his first anniversary as a foreign minister this month.
